Are you Looking for a Reputable Criminal Lawyer to Fight your Case?

Getting Charged with a Criminal Offence Is Stressful

If you or someone that you know has been charged with a criminal offence, navigating through the legal system can be a stressful time in your life.

Dealing with the Criminal Justice System, and specifically, the Police can cause a lot of stress for you and your family. We understand this stress and are here to help you through it.

Getting charged with a criminal offence affects every area of your life and it affects those around you. It carries a stigma within society and puts your character into question.

While the Justice System states that you are innocent until proven guilty, the stigma attached with a person getting charged with an offence is far worse, and you should be careful about how you handle this situation.

FAQs

When to hire a criminal lawyer in Calgary?

You will need to hire a Calgary criminal lawyer if you have been charged under the following offenses under the Criminal Code of Canada

Do the police have the right to search me?

In most cases, the police can only search you only if you have been placed under arrest or if you have consented to the search. The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms protects you from unreasonable search and seizure. If the police search you, they must conduct the search in a reasonable manner. They aren’t allowed to destroy your property for no reason. If the police violate this right, a court may later decide that the evidence they found through the unreasonable search can’t be used against you.

Do I have to go to trial?

No, you do not have to go to trial, however, you have a right to have your case proceed to trial. If you have been charged with an offence and have entered a not guilty plea, your case will proceed to trial. Many cases are resolved by way of an Early Case Resolution without a trial taking place. A trial can take several months or even years. Having high-quality representation from a criminal defence lawyer throughout the process can ensure that your rights are protected at every stage. One of the most important things to remember is that, under the Canadian justice system, you are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. We passionately defend our clients to ensure that we get you the best possible outcome in every stage of your case.
