Jared Goruk

Criminal Law


Jared Goruk joined the criminal law department at Shory Law LLP from a diverse legal background. Previously, Jared served as an Associate Lawyer specializing in Civil Litigation, Criminal Defence, and Family Law in Calgary. Jared’s legal journey began with a Student at Law position at Herman, Kloot & Company, a general practice firm in Drumheller, Alberta. After being called to the bar by the Law Society of Alberta in 2018, Jared continued as a Barrister and Solicitor with Kloot, Wilkins & Associates until 2020.

Jared’s qualifications include a Certificate of Qualification from the National Committee on Accreditation of the Federation of Law Societies of Canada obtained in 2015. In 2022, Jared completed the Principal Training Course offered by the Law Society of Alberta and successfully mentored an articling student during his tenure. Throughout his career, Jared has demonstrated proficiency in various legal domains, including Criminal Defence, Family Law, Civil Litigation, Corporate Law, Employment Law, Wills and Estates, and Real Estate.

In 2016, Jared dedicated his time to the Elizabeth Fry Society of Calgary, where he served as a volunteer, volunteer coordinator, and research assistant at the Calgary Courts Centre. In this capacity, Jared contributed to programs focused on Adult Criminal Court, Youth Court, and Traffic/Bylaw Court.

Furthermore, Jared’s engagement extended to his university years at the University of Alberta, where Jared was actively involved with the Pro Bono Students Canada Civil Claims Duty Counsel Project and the Student Legal Services of Edmonton Criminal Law Project in 2013-2014.
