Elsa Kaka is an immigration and refugee protection lawyer at Shory Law. She fiercely represents her client’s interests in Canadian immigration matters.
Elsa represents individual immigration matters, including inadmissibility to Canada, refugee protection claims, detention reviews, removal appeals, and humanitarian and compassionate applications. She has experience preparing materials and applications at the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada as well as the Federal Court of Canada.
After completing her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Elsa attended the Faculty of Law at the University of Manitoba, where she completed a Doctor of Law (J.D.). In addition, she has valuable experience working as a Chapter Coordinator of Pro-Bono Students Canada from 2018 – 2020. She has also held positions in the Black Law Students’ Association – Manitoba Chapter and the Black Law Students’ Association of Canada.
Elsa has written articles for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), and has been published in the Manitoba Law Journal and the Trial Lawyers Association of BC’s magazine, The Verdict.
Elsa enjoys making music, taking care of her plants, and cooking for her friends and family.
